Education
I earned a Bachelor's Degree in History and Journalism from Beloit College in Wisconsin. I continued my education with a Master's Degree in History from Portland State University in Oregon, and when I moved to Maryland, I took Education courses for my Maryland State teaching certificate at The Johns Hopkins University School of Education and Business.
Experience
I have worked for 15 years in Maryland State public and non-public schools from 5th grade to 10th grade. My Maryland State teaching certification is currently Advanced Professional. I am currently the Middle School Language Arts Department Chair for a non-public 2010 Blue Ribbon K-8 school in Howard County. Prior to assuming this position, I was the Department Chair for Social Studies. I worked for the Community College of Baltimore County at the Catonsville and Dundalk campuses teaching GED courses for six years. I have extensive experience working in classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one. I specialize in academic writing, reading comprehension, test prep, American and World History. I especially enjoy the challenges of working with children who have low self-esteem and lack academic confidence.
