I earned my bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Drama from Washington College in Maryland. My passion for teaching comes from my love for communication. As such, the large majority of my experience and focus as a tutor is in the field of Writing. I get immense satisfaction from helping a student identify who they are addressing with their work and the most effective way to do that. I understand that every student learns in a different way and always try to make a concerted effort to tailor my lessons to whatever works best for that individual. I like to challenge their preconceptions and also enjoy it when they challenge mine. When teaching students how to get their point across through writing, my favorite question for them is, "So what?" I believe looking at it in that way helps them identify the most important parts of their work, what they need to say, and how they need to say it. I am comfortable tutoring subjects all across the English spectrum, and I also have experience helping students as they prepare for English sections of standardized like the SAT, ACT, and PSAT. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, comedy, reading, hiking, and coffee.
